Not sure if you're a prog kinda guy are you Hamo? I'd check out his latest album "hand cannot erase" for an introduction, then theres a TON of other bands of his, or bands he's produced and played on their albums (Opeth etc..)

I prefer Porcupine Tree to his (also excellent) solo stuff, so if I were you I'd check out (in this order) these albums:
Deadwing
Fear of a Blank Planet
In Abstentia
...which are actually in reverse order of preference for me (In Abstentia is one of my favourite albums by anyone ever) but will probably ease you into things.
