If I lived in Welly or Auckland then I'd go but flight + hotel+ ticket is too much for a band I've never really been into. Hope it's a good one though.

It also reminded me of the fat Axl meme that was going around for a while. This makes me chuckle.

agreed, Appetite was the pinnacle of their career.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Yep, I'd have been happy to quite and live off the royalties, stellar album, still remember being recommended it by a school mate when it came out, blew me away!

If you read any of their autobios, it sounds like most of the best songs (including the best cuts from the two filler-laden UYI albums) were written by Axl back in the early days when he was hungry and not a complete egomaniac yet. Probably a good thing that they imploded after a couple of albums instead of churning out increasingly shit ones for a few decades.*

I really liked Chinese Democracy. But it wasn't Guns and Roses, and it wasn't 10 or whatever years in production good. If it had been made as an axl solo album in 1 year, then solid bloody album.

Scooter, I am with you on Chinese Democracy. There is a lot of quality there.

Also, the UYI albums were more arty than we had any right to expect from such an unpretentious band like GnR. Of course there is the sleaze and dirt, thank you very much.
