I don't understand the issue with message in a bottle, its just a series of arpeggiated sus2 chords. No good for me with my childlike fingers though
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

speaking of fudging it , how many realised this monotonous song had such a bass part
check out the bass under the solo 3 min mark

and any band that can nail this on guitar and bass get serious cred in my books, theres plenty of fudged ways to play the guitar but to do it properly and have it synced with your bass player is up there

Re: Top 40 cover band: hardest song to play on guitar
I remember seeing a covers band about 10 years ago in Aus, who had opted for a very 80s songbook. Probably 82-86 was the range. One song that took me by surprise because I had forgotten it (somewhat thankfully) was Kajagoogoo's Too Shy...what a bass line! Wouldn't line up for that one...

Zackly. It's the hint of cramp just over half way through that steadily increases to a burn and the knowledge that the fingers will seize before the singer gets tired and forgets what he's doing.Bg wrote:I don't understand the issue with message in a bottle, its just a series of arpeggiated sus2 chords. I need to play that song every day to keep match fit. I don't play any song every day.
But when it's on song with a band, it's one of my favourites.

Of the Police songs I've played live, the one I love most (playing, not sure if the audience loves it as much...) is So Lonely.

You have two guitarists, guitar1 plays the first chord, guitar2 plays second chord - ad infinitum, shake cramp out of hands in the 2 chords you have spare Audience will love it, drinks bought and band rebooked.

That could be a fun trick!Bg wrote:You have two guitarists, guitar1 plays the first chord, guitar2 plays second chord - ad infinitum, shake cramp out of hands in the 2 chords you have spare Audience will love it, drinks bought and band rebooked.

I think the worst thing about that is everyone (ok me) remembers the bassline from the chorus, which is a literal piece of piss.
