Cool, a joke band at a concert for a joke cause, seems appropriate...

Bah, no Bad News reunion?

Then again, they were never one for causes. Other than getting trolleyed.

Speaking of big concerts, I watched the Live Aid DVD yesterday for the first time. Not having seen it since the original broadcast in 1985, I found it pretty cool nostalgia. The abundance of Telecasters made me feel a bit queasy though.

Still, nothing a wall of Wailing AC30s and a homebuilt fireplace can't fix.

the misguided idea that a species as insignificant as human beings could even put a dent in the earth with the ultimate smiting that mother nature can (and eventually probably will) launch at us and wipe us off the face of the planet while dinosaurs get a better track record than we ever did.
global warming? y2k? 1984?
at least global warming gets a better run than y2k did, that had a finite time.. this is almost as good of a scam as afterlife insurance (organised religion).

 Perhaps it didn't occur to you that Y2K would have had devastating effects IF nothing had been done about it? Having worked in both the Nuclear Power and Chemical industries fixing the problems that WOULD have occurred due to the bug, I can assure you that all the time and money spent was worth it. The reason why nothing happened was because we actually fixed the problems before they occurred. Sheesh....

although I agree there were certainly issues that required time and money, "all "of it? not likely.
going around workstations and ensuring they'd be y2k compliant at a desktop level was pretty much a complete waste of time and money to name just one instance.
I've no problem with the critical work carried out, but there was a huge scam run on the general public in order for the trade (I.T.) to make some bucks... I was one of them too... it was a great scam.

re-read the post - 'all' was pertaining to the nuclear power and chemical industries - I had nothing to do with the sort of unethical cowboys involved with any scamming.... perhaps you should have avoided the sweeping generalization in the first place ;)
