Yeah, but the money could go to something that would have more of a lasting benefit to the economy.

Having said that, I'm not a big fan of tourism. It creates a workforce that's good at making beds and not much else, but that's on the bigger picture.

I vote that all gossip journalists and other "Royal Watchers" are rounded up and banished to Mogadishu for a minimum of 15 years. Any that survive should be sent back for another 15.

Then we and the young couple might all enjoy some peace & quiet.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

As the future king of England, William could pull any woman from anywhere. But tragically, that freedom iscurtailed by the intense media scrutiny he is under. News of the World pays 10,000 quid for a story from any woman who beds a famous footballer from the premier league, so any woman who slept with William could name her price for the story. That left him with only being able to pull posh, moneyed society women, who he knows would lose their reputation if they talked to the media. In the end, he married one.

In his shoes, would you have played it any differently?

No it wasn't. You'll find that some sites don't allow linking of images - that site would appear to be one of them.

Jumped to many conclusions lately ;)
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Wrong!
Her mother was an air hostess, and her Dad worked for British Airways, doing what... I can't remember (air hostesses mostly I guess).
Her mother's side of the family were miners and labourers and her Dad came from Leeds.
They formed their own mail order firm that sells party supplies and decorations which made them millionaires.

Her Mum and Dad made money sure, but hardly "posh" or "society".

It's absolutely true though. Tourism depends a lot on fashion, if the market decides that NZ is no longer fashionable, then we'll wind up with a bunch of empty hotels. And of course, we're as far away from most affluent countries as you can get, which means that we're already behind the 8 ball in trying to convince people that the 24 hour (plus) flight is worth it. Finally, there's the problem that you can't really create natural beauty, we have what we have and that's all.

Compare that to investing in science and research, and putting more money into education. IT is a natural. We could have products that are not fashion dependant, that in many cases cost nothing to ship and, best of all, are endlessly sustainable since research always leads to more research.

So no, I'm not trolling. I may be exaggerating slightly for effect, but I'm definitely not trolling.
