Unintended review side-effect: that new plexi model on the HD sounds pretty good...

Nice review, my iPad won't play the soundcloud clips damn it. I have always liked the sound of this style guitar. Nice writing and review flow.

There is a SoundCloud app that'll take care of that.bobiron wrote:Nice review, my iPad won't play the soundcloud clips damn it. I have always liked the sound of this style guitar. Nice writing and review flow.

Great site, great review! Looks and sounds like a fantastic guitar on a budget.
Also very impressed by the quality/authenticity of the amp simulations.

Good to hear you like your headphones CaptCapt. Black wrote: Listened to all the sounclips on my best headphones. They're great.
After reading you comments on the pickups, I can't help thinking the only thing missing was real amp moving real air. Have you had a chance to try that yet? It would be interesting to hear what you thought of the pickups once they're surrounded by jiggly shaky air and resonating wood.
I think of 335s, gretsches and other hollow bodies as always on the verge of exploding in feedback. Especially in gainy crunchy rock music. The whole guitar is responding to the sound coming at it and that seems to push the guitarist to adjust their playing to suit. It can sound awesome and totally different, to me, to how you'd play on the usual solid body guitars.
Agree about the resonating guitar thing. I think it makes a good difference in tone with solid bodies so would be interesting to hear what it's like with a semi... (ohh err)

Thanks guys, feedback much appreciated
Haha I was about to post re: Capt's headphones.
I have indeed played the ES-60 "out loud", and while it probably does sound a little gruntier, the basic sound is actually captured quite well using the HD.
I'll look into better cross-posting/social media integration this weekend - as I said, I'm very, very new to this, so bear with me as I fumble through it.
Looks like there could be some interest in clips of the HD500? I might post a list of the amp models, and see what you guys think of as "classic" tones for them, and try to do something with that, with only the basic amp models/drives without any advanced EQing.

Really interested in hearing Motley Crue and early Zakk style tones.slash-ed wrote:Thanks guys, feedback much appreciated

Ah yes sorry, haven't had time to fix that yet - it's somewhere between a C and a D. Rounded and comfortable, but not too fat for my midget hands!

I like the idea of the vault ed, we all know it's a pretty big vault. Was it this forum you got it from??
