Re: New doco on Page, Edge and Jack White
The choices remind me of whenever non-guitar magazines do 'top 100 guitarists of all time' lists. Invariably Ed Van Halen get a cursory mention near the bottom of the pile and that's about it for the post-78 twiddle guitar generation. Dudes like Vai don't get a mention because they pretty much don't exist to the wider non-playing population. Then guitar forum dudes see these lists and practically have an aneurysm: "Jack White can barely play!" "where's Yngwie?" "Sonic Youth WTF?!?" "who is Steve Cropper?" etc...
Maybe some dudes who respect Jimmy Page but don't compute on Edge or Jack White (and there's plenty fitting that description in forum-land) will watch the film and come away with a new appreciation of the breadth of things that can be achieved artistically with a guitar in hand. Or maybe they'll just continue on as normal. And dudes who can't abide Page for his 'sloppiness' will be unreachable as always.

I think Jack White is criminally underrated. The live White Stripes concert that's been on tv a couple of times blows me away. It takes a lot of skill and talent to do what he does.

If that red and white stand in the top right is selling donuts; I would guess somewhere in that vicinity.

I just don't get all the Jimmy Page worship. I mean, from what I've heard, he can play pentatonic solos and performed with a lead singer who has a really annoying voice.calling card wrote:Yeah this readers review is compelling:

I am not a film critic however I am a massive music fan and I while I agree with the positive comments you make - I do not agree with your neutral view. Fist off it is a challenge to make a movie like this because Jimmy Page is such a massive figure in music that all others that come before him have a very hard time to come close to his legend.
Maybe I'm just too young to get it?
Can someone post a link to a youtube of decent Lead Zep video?
