Cadillac Records

Post by bluesbass »

I finally got around to watching the film Cadillac Records last night, and I really wish I hadn't.
Anyone else seen it?

Woefully bad even if you ignore all the historical and musical inaccuracies. It's just a bad film.

For me it was like when I finaly broke and watched Blues Brothers 2000.
I had resisted for yonks, and then just had too...

Both are dreadful, dreadful films.
I have to admitt that I didn't catch the "real Hubert Sumlin" but I might have been crying uncontrollably by then

I watched it couple of months back.

Not being a blues boffin, I didn't spot anything in the way of glaring inaccuracies. But I did spot the fact that it was pretty bloody dull.

I like how they managed to make the other Chess brother (Phil) non-existent, Etta James skinny and pretty, and the best line of all cliched blues lines EVER:

"Now, I don't mind you gettin' men all liquored up, but I done lost two daughters to bluesmen! Dangerous business you in...."

Who the f**k EVER talked like that?

LOL

Sonny Terry, Ry Cooder, Steve Vai... what more could you ask for in a movie soundtrack? 8)
