Re: John Mayer, TSB Arena Wellington
I went to the auckland show, and i'm reasonably easy to please as far as concerts go when i'm drunk and i've been quietly looking forward to it for the last few weeks.
But i was remarkably underwhelmed. He must have played a different set to Wellington, as there were some obvious omissions. I didn't expect a blues set, but i did think that his arrogance would have him indulge in a lot more ego-stroking solos than were played. Alas. I can't fault the evening, but i wont be raving about it to anyone either.
I guess i was expecting the final set from the Where The Light Is dvd... which it wasn't.
My girlfriend loved it though, but she'd love anything. Evidently.

He seemed to be just going through the motions to me.
Reminded me of the Polar Bear that used to be at the Auckalnd Zoo...going back and forth...
They must have used 20 megawatts off the Auckland grid to get the kick that loud...

If it was the John Mayer Trio, I would have flown up to see both concerts. This sounds like it was "commercial John Mayer" which doesn't interest me much.

Re: John Mayer, TSB Arena Wellington
Ok well heres what I can remember of the wellington setlist, not exactly the right order- I got a bit bored in the middle:
No Such Thing
Crossroads
Vultures
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
*Perfectly Lonely*
Stop This Train
Daughters
Who Says
All we ever do is say Goodbye
Half of my Heart/Dreams (Fleetwood Mac)
(encore)
Heartbreak Warfare
Gravity
Did he also play 'Waiting on the World to Change'?

Too many guitars, not enough talent.

Re: John Mayer, TSB Arena Wellington
one more comment: Glad we decided on the $99 tickets instead of the $150... i'd have been extremely disappointed for that kinda money.

Re: John Mayer, TSB Arena Wellington
try two tickets @$150ea. $300 disappointed
Na, it was (mostly) fun and I won't have the chance to see him for five years probably- worth the risk in the end.
