Clash of the Mini-Titans - Mesa Mini Rec vs Carvin V3M (Pt2)
I'm pleased to announce that the next review on http://www.sixstringsamurai.co.nz is just around the corner!
I was interested in addressing the relatively recent trend in lunchbox amps, and Jansen was kind enough to provide a review unit of the Carvin V3M for me to compare to the Mesa Boogie Mini Rec I already own. I figured it was a good match, since a lot of the cheaper lunchboxes cover one or two bases at the exclusion of others, while these two seem to be up there as a new breed of fully-featured mini amps.
Anyway - if I've scheduled it correctly, Part 1 of the review should appear tomorrow morning sometime. I'm slowly still adding functionality to the site as I go, and have just added email subscription facilities, so I'd really appreciate it if you would skip over to the site briefly to enter your details! That's all you'll have to do, you don't have to confirm or reply or any crap like that.
And magically, when the first part of the review gets published, you'll receive a note in your inbox
Thanks again to Simon and Jansen, as well as Matt for rushing the Audix i5 down to me (even though the couriers fucked that plan up )
Edit: Part 2 is now out.
Part 1: http://sixstringsamurai.co.nz/2012/05/1 ... rectifier/
Part 2: http://sixstringsamurai.co.nz/2012/05/1 ... unchboxes/

So the V3M is a head as well? The size of the box made me think it was going to be a combo.

Haha nah, I got the combo version - but am reviewing it as a "head", since the stock speaker wasn't broken in, and I ran both through my Mesa Thiele cab just to be consistent. Haven't had the weather for a sweet photo op, so stock pics for now, but the final part of the review should have some proper pics.

Hahaha. IE see...
Have removed the poor floating icons, and replaced with a sidebar link to MyFaceTube, that disappointingly does not move or annoy people at all.
