What 212 cabs get the nod?

What's up guys.
Trying to downsize my stage rig and will only bust out the 412 when I really need to.

So looking for a nice 212 to compliment my rig. Currently running Axe Fx through my laney 212 combo and it sounds really good. Comparing to my 412, it lends a more open, brighter and punchier sound which I like. (Semi open back). But will probably be selling the Laney soon

So, just wondering if most 212's are much of a muchness or some are quite a step ahead of others.. what would you recommend? I have plenty of speakers I can roll through one too. K100's, Emi Govs and Greenbacks are my faves these days.
Share your opinions please chaps.

What do you play? I had a mesa recto 2x12 for years but sold it for a vintage 4x12.

If I were playing heavy stuff more frequently than I am I'd look into another Mesa, they project well, are built tough enough to survive 3 apocalypses, and sound great if you need tight and powerful. But, that's sort of all they are and you'll have to work hard to get a rounder softer sound from then if you're playing jazz or blues.

If i wanted something awesome that could it all I'd look I to a Marshall 1936. They're a 2x12 but bigger than most so you get a fuller sound. I made one to the same specs and half open backed and it was great.

I've heard those THD cabs are great. I got one made with the same dimensions and I like it.

Otherwise Mesa is a classic option.

Thanks man. Yeah we do grunge/hard Rock but not really metal. That Marshall sounds like it'd be the go. Need a bit of an all-rounder.
Tried those Orange cabs before?

I got it done by Livesound.

BG could do one just as good though.

Molly has my old THD 2x12. Open, bright and punchy is what they built them to do.

Think he wants to move it.

I would not expect Griff and my two 12s to get along all that well actually. :D

I have a Mesa vertical 2x12 and it's fricken great. Doesn't look, sound or feel a million miles from a 4x12 - so it's a good compromise for portability.

The problem with marshall is they were designed to be made from a standard sheet of plywood, not how they actually sounded. I prefer the oversized cabs like the 1936. And of course, they are so fucking beamy. Take the audience members head off that you're pointed towards, guy just on the right or left - sounds sweet.
