why not fill the entire cavity from the back with brass...the ultimate sustain block.

I actually heard (or is that factually?) that if you fit brass soles to your shoes then your sustain will be increased tenfold. Better ground transmission. Might be worth a try.

Look BG I may be just 'pushing a point' but why not replace the body with one cast in brass for the ultimate in sustain - then you could upgrade by changing the neck, pickups, electronics etc.

It'd feel like a totaly different guitar I agree but that's the price you pay for 'informed change'.
