What is wrong with DSE resistors anything they sell is fine for pedals (overkill even, some are rated for 500volts a pedal only sees 9v tops!! so resistor distortion doesnt come in to play as there is no high voltage swings), there is no magic mojo in resistors unless there are big voltage swings across it, like a valve amps later stages, all they do in pedals is contribute to noise so go for metal film - as large wattage as you can fit.

Infact most pedal makers use metal film which are the most quiet, and surprisingly the cheapest too so no room for improvement here, and caps... well the *type* of cap matters much much more than the brand....
maybe swapping out cheap ceramic caps for polyester or polyprop if you feel it needs smoothing..

The big difference would be actual changes to the circuit like changing transistors for lower/higher gain, IC's (TS 808 mod) etc etc

if its the cheapest does that automaticly mean theres no room for improvements?
yes i do change the resistors, personally I prefer carbon composite resistors over metal film resistors...
and i will also change the diode, capacitors and ofcuz the IC.
diode in certain pedals... such as the TS9 or the SD-1 etc

but hey... I ain't begging for someone to let me mod their pedal for free... so yea........
I know my stuff, k? :)

I need someone before next friday thanks. Its for free ffs.. hmmph!
I could very well be keen, the reason I'm slightly hesitant is that if it sounds like arse, although I've not paid anything I've lost the best sounding overdrive I've played. However, in saying that I'm going to have a chat with a friend who's had his 9 modded.

I'll keep you posted.

I assume that includes the op-amp?

I had a word with a mate of mine who has a TS9 modded up to the 808 specs, I was a big fan of his pedal, but I wanted to know the specifics of what he had done.

Amyway I am keen to hand over the pedal, how long will it take to mod?

Where are you based? If you're in Wellington, or the surrounding areas I can drop the pedal off.

of couse it includes the opamp, no TS808 mod can be completed without the ori opamp used.
I live in Auckland. Total shipping wouldn't cost much. Just prepare a small box stuff it with news paper and bubble wraps if possible. Send through parcel post which cost around 3.50 if im not mistaken.
I'll be quite busy next week, so I can't really tell when will I be able to mod your pedal. Just hold it, and I'll PM you the details.
Which opamp would you like to use? the JRC4558D or the RC4558p? The JRC is what used in the TS808 pedals. The RC4558p will give more gain as compare to the JRC4558d.
