Yeah man,I'm so pround of myself! Now it looks pretty close to Children of bodom's Alexi's ESP RR CUSTOM, I'm not a 1% good as Ash , but I did my best to achieve the best outcome, anyway Comments please, everyone. \m/

Dude, I have just searched the web for these guys...they seem pretty hard! The lead singer looks hot - especially if he was a girl, which he almost looks like...no ill vibe intended.
I have a distinct dislike for pointy guitars, but I have to say if you've done those mods yourself, big ups to you man...that's very cool. I played some Jacksons when they first made their appearance on these shores and always thought they were well made quality instruments.

hey man, thanks for your comment,CoB is one of the favourate instrument oriented Death metal band these days, their neo-class solo is just amazing, especially to those young guys.
but this guitar is not a Jackson, it is a Ash made RR replica, here is the origional look when I got it from Ash,
after few week of playing, I decide challange my self to refinish it. This one become to my main guitar now(My customshop ESP nearly never been played since then:) ), I'm sure you know how well does Ash's guitar will sounds.
Ash is the GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!None of my guitars can sounds even more metal to me except my Ash made RR!!!!!!

Sure, I use rattle can for painting, great result, Not much different in tone of guitar before and after painting.
Sand it down smooth.
Just some product like a grain filler first,
then base primer, sand it smooth.
Next lacquar goes on, 9 coat,
then stripping with black paint.
3 coat clear lacquar.
Finally polish took me 4 weeks no-stop polishing, I don't have any tools, just a 2000 grade sand paper from hobbystore with some water and a sanding pad.
lastly, use toilte paper with water to polish it to shinny. Now its really bloody shinny than I think before.

Holy shit, DH.. That looks wicked! Well done, man.
Nothing like a bit of 2000 grit paper and some sweat to make it shine
Show us the headstock logo...

Cheers Ash, I'm glad to hear those words from you!!
Here is the headstock, Kinda a shame that I don't know I need sand it and use grain filler to smooth it before spary the paint on... So the result is not flash at all But I felt lucky because I paid much more attention when I refinish the body. The logo is stock Jackson logo and made from a OHP by photocopy machine, which I learned from Projectguitar.com.

Cool Very nicely done. Sounds like you put in a lot of work, but the result definitely looks worth it.

ok so after seeing donghuas excellent work
ive decide to do mine as well.... with little to no knowledge of guitar refinishing
yea.... so i really need the help of you peeps
ok im thinking of getting an airbrush...but that means i must also get another air compressor ... which is quite costly from some of the ones ive looked at
are there any other alternatives to this?
and also.... which methods best for stripping me guitar? chemical? heat? or good ole sandpaper?
and what other stuff do i need?
now i know this is goin to cost me alot... probably more than getting it done professionally... but i would really like refinish this guitar with my own 2 hands
so yea..... any advice would be greatly appreciated
thx
ps DH: sorry for jacking the thread

What's the black thing just below the neck? Awesome work. I'll be interested to see what people have to say on Jloo's request too.DongHua wrote:
