Whammy bar position?...[sigh]...back to bed.
Hi Ya'll
I noticed today while watching an SRV video that his trem arm is on the opposite end of the norm, the "top" if you like, away from the controls?
I've never really used mine and tend to just take them off but this is mostly because I can't reach down and grab it quick enough when I want it and usually miss it. If I want it then I have to either tighten it so it sits closer to me, which means it's in the way or hold on to it which can be tricky. I usually just palm the trem when I what some.
Moving it to the other end might eliminate this?
How would one do that? Can you buy bridges made like that?
Edit: Yeah yeah... They're called left handed bridges... FFS...

It's a left-handed bridge Les. Don't think it would work on a Paul.

There's other options as well of course, like having a longer bar, or a larger bend so you can get to it more easily.

I belive that SRV played this way to emulate hendrix.

Kinda makes sense to me though? It means it's right there, barely need to move to get it.dylan wrote:I belive that SRV played this way to emulate hendrix.

Yes....and Hendrix being a goofy footer, playing standard guitars with the strings inverted, resulted in the term arm at the top of the bridge.dylan wrote:I belive that SRV played this way to emulate hendrix.
