Palmy Tech for Tele soldering?

Post by null_pointer »

Anyone know anyone in Palmerston North that would be capable of taking a look at a hummy Tele? Sold one to Troy (2-Sassey) and it has arrived with a decent hum in pos 2 and 3, which sounds like something is earthing with the bridge pup. He's not up to technically fiddling so I need to sort for him (shouldn't have arrived like that in the first place!).

Update

Guitar is in my workshop now. Wicked buzz from the neck and middle position, that goes away whenever the strings/bridge is touched. Way worse than iv heard before, but silent when being played. Investigating now...

*edit*

Whoever installed the neck pickup reversed the earth and hot leads.

Bah never lend gear to friends who want to 'try something out'...turns out they were having a tutu before I got it back.

Cheers, glad it was simple!

I can see how it happened. Neck pickup wires were spliced to add more length, a white wire (typically used for hot) was attached to ground and a black wire was attached to hot
