didn't they use PCB in the 80`s? or at some other stage along the way.
do you know if they still use 300k pots these days?

Haha... no PCB in 1981 Customs.

yea ;) it`s a faded memory, I tried googling it, no time to wade through but I`m sure for some reason they had PCB boards at some time in the 70`s or 80`s.
not sure what model... maybe I dreamt it
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

They use the painful metal bracket in the '80s ones.

Ryan told me the problem with PCB boards is if the pots are soldered to the board, whether it is an amp or a guitar. One really good bump of the pot's control knob and they can come loose from the PCB.

I have not messed with pots much, but did do a cap mod to brighten up a very dark sounding Jackson. I went from 47n to 33n and it made it just right (500k pots).

Isn't 500K the usual value for humbuckers? 300K is probably more for P90's.

Some says they only started using 300K since the 70's, so it would be correct for the R series to use 500K.

Used orange drop caps. Noticed the tone change isn't linear and wondered if different caps would change that?
Caps can make a surprising difference. I've found orange drops often perfect with P90's, horrible with Fender singles and variable between different buckers.

Grab a volume pedal. That way you can retain all the tonal variations of your guitar tone controls but still keep the treble up when dropping volume when you need to ...
