I would hope so....you don't need to look at it do you. It's usually about an arms length away

James if you get bored and just want to refinish a guitar I can send you a poly covered Tele body I'd like taken back to natural and given some kind of clear coat.

/or just keep re-finishing your own Tele over and over, whatever makes you happy dude

Message me about your one. It sounds like I can heat gun it back and do a spray poly finish on it.

Edit: Photos are being a bit farty so I will rectify and update tomorrow.

Ok, I don't have my glasses on so there will probably be some doddery old barry grade writing fuckups, but here we go.
Here we are yesterday morning. The stain had all set.

Image

Image

Frets look loads better against the rosewood.

Image

Image

Figured it'd pay to give this ol' slab a good whack of lemon oil (pre- reading the linseed oil thing and remembering there's about a litre of the stuff in the shed).

Image

I must've put on another dab of stain, cuz here I am sorting out the marginal rats nest that is last weeks pissing round job.

Image

The push pull that came from gfs was scratchy and behaved like an on/off switch near the end of its taper, so that had to go.

Image

So I got the harness back together. By that stage, my old mate from dorkland had shown up on his way to kaikohe (I think) a) to check out the goldtop and b) to talk heeeeeeeaps of shit.
Inside we went, to find mummy repurposing my favourite jacket which fell apart a few weeks ago.

Image

Image

Intermission: Went to the dairy, posted something (like actual post), picked up an interim project for the lols, got subway, came home, got bored, set fire to something in the back yard . . . . I mean it was in the bin anyway.

Image

Then Drew decided it was time to have a hoon on the goldtop.

Image

After a couple hours of that, the dog decided he needed a new friend.

Image

Aaaaaand we're back in the shed. This looks to be post- green scouring pad (heavy).

Image

Image

I did end up having to do the sides. They proved tricky. The new stain didn't really want to talk to the old stuff.

Image

Another coat for good measure.

Image

If you ever want to scare people, stain something this colour and go into town with a weird twitch.

Image

Image

Pre- final sand, I just couldn't help myself.

Image

Image

This is the new toploading bridge thing. It's string through too, but I figured I'd give toploading a hoon cuz no string can break in the string through thing that way

Sides - Again. Urf.

Image

This stain isn't glossy by any means, so I thought about putting this stuff over the top: Satin finish poly. I think it's the same stuff I put on the goldtop's headstock.

Image

The stain was drying, so it was time to pull interim project apart for a general going over and a polish up.

Image

Can't believe I didn't think of the random piece of wood in neck slot trick before. Makes life a shitload easier.

Image

Pots labelled!! Precision, Jazz, and Tone. Popping the bridge ground wire out so I don't bugger up the top finish.

Poor lighting, but it came up really well.

Image

This is where I got creative ... Scouring pads on the mouse sander only do so much, so I did a wee test area with my secret weapon . . . .

Image

(Yes, we are looking at the finish, not the holes)

Image

AHAHA HARDWARE TIME WOOO

Image

Notice an ever so slight sheen on it?

Image

Blimey, it almost looks like a guitar again.

Image

TIME.

Image

And of course. . . . .

Image

That's right. It broke at the other end this time.
Fortunately, I bought two spares last week when it ate the last high e.

... And here we are.

And here's a sub par video showcasing what it sounds like, as well as the extent of my crazy horse knowledge.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.
There is some ... Some not 100% silky smooth happening on a couple of frets, but nothing to write home about. Everything rings true, pots both do what they should, thing sounds as good as it looks and plays wonderfully.

Spose I'll get that black bass back together and start tidying the shed eh.

Looks really great combined with the rosewood fretboard. Stylish!
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Jvpp seal of approval always a win.

One factor of the blue that bothered me is how it didn't quite sit with the rosewood. Now the body is a similar colour, I for one reckon it works shitloads better. Looks more natural or whatever.

Did a bit more recording with it today. It's all bedding in really nicely.
