Pot Values
250K pots for single coils, 500k for humbuckers; I get that.
So what do you do with a SSH configuration?
Putting a Lil59 into the white PRS. Might or might not swap out the single coils. Currently has 250s but they're half sized and probably cheap so replacements will happen.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Up early... you and Molly not drinking enough?
I don't think small pots are bad or necessarily of Lower quality. You could try a 370kohm in the hb circuit . That would befone for the sc's.

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Re: Pot Values
Not pushing our ObsidianWire stuff if you are handy with a soldering iron, but I can absolutely recommend our HSS wiring, which is closely based on what Suhr does.
You need a super switch, two 500k pots, one 250k, and a few caps and resistors.
Using the above and some next level wiring, you get 250k for the single coils, and the ability to automatically switch to 500k for the humbucker.
The humbucker coils also auto split in position 2, so you get a traditional Strat bridge and middle sound. That part can be left out if it's not for you.

I've got the 4-way tele kit in my tele and holy crap it's awesome!! Worth every cent, no soldering required, painless install, highly recommend!!!!!!!ToneLoungeMatt wrote:Not pushing our ObsidianWire stuff if you are handy with a soldering iron, but I can absolutely recommend our HSS wiring, which is closely based on what Suhr does.

Another plus 1 for the Tele obsidian wiring... its worth it.
And Slowy unless you will actually enjoy the process of soldering I reckon get the obsidian kit!

Re: Pot Values
This is the correct answer. Not a tricky DIY to get a resistor in there (plenty of stuff online about it and I've done it to at least three guitars with good effect ) but who's got time for that now adays.ToneLoungeMatt wrote:Not pushing our ObsidianWire stuff if you are handy with a soldering iron, but I can absolutely recommend our HSS wiring, which is closely based on what Suhr does.

Re: Pot Values
I like soldering. The screwdriver in the teeth holding the wire down so my face is close enough to really get the fumes, melting the plastic off other wires that get in the way, struggling to get a clean ground connection... I've actually got a lot better at this of late but it's never the nice, shiny, chrome-like connections that Mathew does on the pre-soldered kits he sells. I start out with a zen-like state of calm with everything clean and laid out ready. I have surgical clamps that work as heatsinks so I don't send too much heat to caps etc. In my mind it's going to be a work of art but within an hour I just want to rip the f'kin' lot out and start again...Jellybelly wrote:ToneLoungeMatt wrote:Not pushing our ObsidianWire stuff if you are handy with a soldering iron, but I can absolutely recommend our HSS wiring, which is closely based on what Suhr does.

I agree , soldering is a lot fun. I miss my gear lab . Being temporarily in Aussie without all these things I wonder if I'll remember which end of the soldering iron to hold onto....

Re: Pot Values
Having soldered for a living in a previous life, getting those lovely, clean solder joints is not actually that hard once you've got the technique sorted.
But if you don't have your technique sorted, it's a horrible thing.
