Unpotted BK Mules. Very much like the LTs in your 594 but more open sounding. Can heartily recommend them.

I think I have BKP Manhattans in my Robin Savoy, which is a 335 ish sized hollow body.Bender put them in so he could confirm.
They're a HB sized P90 and notably cleaner than the BB pros in my LP.
Same volume, but not the same breakup if that makes sense. Really clear and good note/string definition.

If that’s not your bag, I can recommend 36th Anni’s
I have an uncovered set (black neck, Zebra bridge) I could part with

Re: Cleaner than 57 pups in 335
I played a CS 335 today with Custom Buckers in it today, was impressed with the neck, great sounding pickup. The bridge was average.
I have a Whole Lotta Humbucker in the neck of my 335 and a 36th Anni in the bridge. I’d not say that either are particularly clean, although I think clean is a travesty, so I have the pickups very close to the strings.
Seymour Duncan Antuquities and Seth Lovera both sound absolutely killer in 335s as well, and would be well worth checking out.

Is making the pickup closer to the string make it cleaner? I'm confused now.Polar Bear wrote:I played a CS 335 today with Custom Buckers in it today, was impressed with the neck, great sounding pickup. The bridge was average.

Nope, the opposite. I don’t use a lot of pure clean tones, so I have the strings close to the strings.imarco wrote:Is making the pickup closer to the string make it cleaner? Further away = less magnetic bullshit = less grunt being chucked at amp = cleaner

Re: Cleaner than 57 pups in 335
I concur with Molly with the BK mules. I replaced the classic 57s in my R7 with them. More clarity. Recently have put harmonic Z90s in. Even more definition.

For fear of being ridiculed by lovers of ‘boutique’ pickup winders - have you tried Kent Armstrong’s PAF replicas? They’re 7.6 output and surprisingly good (especially for the price). I’ve got a pair in my Les Paul Smartwood and they sound exactly like they’re supposed to (I.e. not totally over-powered).

I've played through some surprisingly good 'cheap' pickups. And some terrible 'cork sniffer' ones.

So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
