Tele saddles

Post by werdna »

I'd be pleased to hear your thoughts on a small issue. My home build partscaster's action needs lowering at the body end. I have run out of travel on the saddle screws. I don't want to shim the neck pocket. I would rather install lower profile saddles. The saddles are 6.5mm high, and string through body. Does anyone know of lower profile saddles available anywhere.

It will likely need a shim at the heel mate, provided the frets are level

Sand down the bottom of the saddles? how much of a difference do you need?

I didn’t either, but it worked.
Filing saddles down could work but I expect you’ll get weird string tension.

hmm good point, with a back loader you need high-ish saddles.

I`ve always liked the look of knackered brass telly saddles
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.
