Installing a hardtail bridge on a Strat.
Just ripped out the super-crappy tremolo on my project super-crappy Strat and would like to install a hardtail instead. Is this a major mission, or would I be better off just installing another standard trem and tightening it against the body?

Obviously it is much easier to just lock the trem down, but not the same. Its a reasonably major surgical procedure to fill the holes with wood, and you have to be very precise if its to be worthwhile. The it will need refinishing in a solid colour.
