I acquired this SG from Joe a few months back. Nice guitar but I'm sure it's capable of more.
With this in mind I'm adding some playing years to it which if past results are anything to go by, should open it up nicely.
I've removed any parts that could impact on the resonance and am going to run the Prime Vibe on it for a couple of days.
Music is coming from a Pono player ( .flv player promoted and now no longer supported by Neil Young. Thanks Neil, you wanker ).
From there it goes to the Prime Vibe which has two vibrating speakers. One currently on the headstock to get the neck resonating and the other behind the bridge. Can feel the whole neck and body vibrating with the music.
I've also swapped out the bridge for a Faber I had lying around as it was quicker than replacing the nylon saddles on the original and has in turn added a touch more top end sparkle.

This will be interesting. Have you any "before" recordings to compare it to the "after"?

No. I've had the device for several years and used it on several guitars. There's always a subtle improvement. I would imagine the difference would be more pronounced on acoustic instruments but even solid bodies seem to open up throughout the process.

Interesting, never even seen one of these before. Might look into getting one and see if it can 'open up my LP a bit, will give me something to Google later tonight

Interesting, Steve. I agree with the removal of the nylon saddles. That was the only part of that guitar that I didn't like -- they soften the attack too much, and limit the sustain.

Interested to know the results in time

I had a 60's Lp Custom with nylon saddles in the 70's. They were perfect at the time as I was in a band that required chugging 8's throughout and my previous Custom with metal saddles had me sawing through low E's and A's before the end of a set. However unless you are playing at ear bleed levels nylon really doesn't help with tone.

Kossoff used to love nylon saddles on his LP’s

My ‘65 SG Standard came with original Nylon saddles. Swapped them for standard plated brass and BAM, a much stronger guitar tone wise. Every couple of years I throw the nylon back in to make sure I’m not kidding myself. I’m not.

Interesting device. I know speakers respond to this sort of treatment well…
