Old age is a terrible thing :-)

Modern Gibson P90's, to my ears, are pretty damn good. People have moaned about the brass plates etc...but don't realise the old ones were also brass, just plated.

Love P90's.

Harsh but accurate.

murky wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:38 am One thing I am pretty convinced on is pot taper. I recon the old CentraLab C2/10% taper is pretty important. At half way a 500k C2 will measure about 50k. They give you a lot of clean below 6ish. Lot of modern pots are 30%+/- taper - a lot of the "vintage correct" pots are 15-30% too - the typical complaint is it gets dirty too quick (i.e. like Rob said above).

Musings aside, does it do the volume and tone at half "acousticky" sound?
I read the post as 2 on the Amp volume, not 2 on the guitar volume.

If it seems really high output compared to the Gibson P90's in the SG then I would probably change it. Should be easy enough to compare them.

The alternative isn't that great though!

Endless youth? Doesn't sound terrible.

That's what I do for years. Could never quite understand the treble bleed mod that everyone was going on about back in the previous decade.

I generally set all vol and tone to 5, then adjust the amp to suit. That way when I turn it up, it has MORE treble as well as drive! :D

THIS. Similar to the instructions provided with some of the original Fender amps I'm told?
