I used to have a Boss DS2, I found it a bit hard to get a good tone out of it, I also briefly tried a DS-1 and found it didn't have much bass response (though this was through a tiny 10 watt marshall amp witha 6.5" speaker). I did find though that a Marshall Jackhammer was pretty damn good through that amp, also it gives you a wide range as it has both overdrive & distortion (switchable).

It'll be my squier strat for now, until my dot studio finally arrives in the country

Definately the rock end of the scale so I guess I'll use the DS-2 Turbo Distortion as a starting point.

Much obliged!
Don't listen to any of those guys ...... they are all biased ... Me, I'm "totally unbiased" .... Just get yourself a Rat pedal ... and you'll have it sorted!! :D

Just get a 15W amp and turn everything up full - do it the natural way!
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

If your looking for a nice cheap distortion pedal maybe you should look at a Behringer UM100. I found this fun to play around with before I upgraded and plus they're only $70 and (in my opinion) out do alot of distortion pedals in the $100-$200 range. Look at http://www.trademe.co.nz/Music-instrume ... 622488.htm for more info.
