Peavey Profex battery replacement in NZ?

Post by Clarky »

Hi guys,

I have read with quivering knees about how the batteries in the Peavey Profex can start to corrode after 10 years, killing the PCB in a bath of acid. Mine is about 14 years old now. Hell, I've only just discovered the trick to make it sound great (EQ+DIST+EQ) and I'm not ready to live without her just yet.

I read on the net that there is a chip update that removes the need for a battery. Is there anyone in NZ (Chch preferably but not vital) that can perform this mod, or that can put a new battery into the old girl please?

Some info on the mods here; http://steelguitarforum.com:80/Forum17/HTML/003166.html

Thanks,

Clarky.

OK, got the chips on the way from the USA.

The batteryless memory is 38.00USD shipped Global Priority Mail. Burr Brown audio upgrade chips another 30.00USD.

If anyone ever wants to do this, contact Ken Fox foxy229@alltel.net
