new In Dread Response site

Post by xCaptainx »

www.indreadresponse.com

Its my first time making a homepage (seriously i know nothing) so please be gentle, haha.

TBH a dedicated .com for artists seems a bit redundant nowadays due to social networking, so i wanted to keep it pretty basic and use it more as a landing site before going to facebook/reverbnation.

Used wordpress and found it pretty easy to set up. Can update it all from my phone and everythings syncd to twitter/reverbnation/mypsace/facebook so im pretty chuffed.

Anywho, ill be posting lots of studio update footage soon (with actual playing this time, haha!

Like. And I think there is still something to be said for having a web presence that is more customisable than FB and Twitter, but not as shitty as MySpace. :D

+1

You need to control your own presence online eventually so get the domain registered. If you have a domain you need a landing page, therefore you need at least a home page and introduction.

Over time things online are going to change, MySpace used to be where it's at, now it's Facebook and twitter, who knows where next. You'll always be able to link to your own home page and point people off from that direction.

Also if you ever get involved with bigger labels or distributors they may want to put up a site for you, better if you control the domain long term otherwise it will get lost, or you'll end up with out of date content when you realise you can't get hold of the site etc. I used to do some work with bands and major labels back in the UK (as a company that built CDs and Sites for them) and you'd be amazed at how the business just views it as a single promotion, commisions the site, puts it online and forgets about it forever.

What you have up there is great at the moment. The only thing I would have thought of adding would have been a dedicated link at the top level for Tour or Gig depending how you see it, then you have a home section for upcoming and historic shows etc.

Great suggestion, thank you. Might do that tonight actually. I really like how easy the reverbnation widgets are to incorporate. I might just start a "shows" page with a full screen reverb nation gig widget. That way it updates everywhere at once.

Glad to hear i didnt make a pigs ear out of my first attempt haha!

Sadly, I wouldn't. This is ridiculously prevalent still. So many managers with web in their portfolio of responsibility can't get past the notion that it's some kind of glorified fire-and-forget print publication.

Trajan is a killer guitarist with a beautiful collection of Gibson guitars (prety sure its 1 les paul custom, 2 explorers and 3 SG's haha so crazy)

Very stoked to be able to work with such amazing musicians!
