Last minute Long Shot...

Post by Polar Bear »

Due to an unfortunate incident, the gig that I am meant to be playing for my father's 60th birthday this coming weekend, (the 20th of Oct) is now without a drummer. If anybody knows of a drummer, or guitarist able to learn approx 20 well known covers by Saturday, please let me know. Transport costs, gear and reimbursement can be sorted if needed. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Songs are: Smoke on the water, Tie Your Mother Down, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, 20th Century Boy, Black Night, Crossroads
Under Pressure, Good Times Bad Times, Pinball Wizard, Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love, Come Together, Monkey Wrench, Seven Nation Army
Dreamin' Of You (the coral), Sunshine of your love, Jumping Jack Flash, The Jean Genie

I'm able to play either drums or guitar for these, but not both at once sadly.

*gig is in Hamilton. But yeah, will cover transport costs..

I should add, the incident was the drummer canceling last minute to pursue another gig, as opposed to something gravely life threatening..

Oh, good... I was about to ask if you'd had an accident.

I would have thought that was life threatening....

I'll do some checking around.

It will be a long slow process, as opposed to immediate though.

I meant for the drummer - life threatening pulling out?

I'll get my coat...

I've played about 6 or 7 of those songs at some stage in the last 5 years, and I've heard all the others. Honestly though, I'm unsure of my ability to learn that much more material in 3-4 weeknights. Maybe 7 days I'd be sweet cos I'd have the weekend. Is it just the one guitarist in your band? i.e. do all the solos need to be the same as the record? If so it may be easier getting a drummer to fill in than a guitarist. Or a guitarist that can play by ear on the fly...(not me)
PM me if you are desperate though (ib;jb).

Yeah, it's good fun to play, although it seems every 60s and 70s song ends in a fade out!
