I'm looking for a bass player to join an established but fairly casual jam band in Auckland. We play instrumental music with a fairly heavy emphasis on improvisation (more like structural improv rather than solos) and our style kind of spans: Booker T and the MGs, The Meters, Medeski Martin and Wood, Herbie Hancock, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, anything from New Orleans... a bit of Rockabilly/surf... maybe even some Reggae. Whatever really. We have a few established songs but, because we're largely just about getting together and jamming, we don't have to stick to those. Before our bass player moved away, we were getting together about once a month and were in the process of recording an EP.
Here's an existing example:

Met Pakehendrix last year, too.
I was playing after a singer called Tory Reed and her band and it turned out he was her bass player.

Hey, did you end up finding a bassist? I know this was a while ago but I'm a bassist looking for something to do.

Actually no... band is kind of on hold at the moment, but could be up to getting back into it.Caitlin wrote:Hey, did you end up finding a bassist? I know this was a while ago but I'm a bassist looking for something to do.

Re: Wanted: Bass player (Auckland)
keep me informed when and if you guys need a casual bass player
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.
