the best way to learn to play herbs songs is to break one of the strings on yer guitar and then get drunk

True tone deafness is very rare, If you were you would have a hard time appreciating music or even recognising songs. IME when people say they're 'tone deaf' because they can't learn songs by ear it usually means they haven't had the practice. I was in the same boat as you until i realised and worked hard at it.

Heres some of 'Sensitive to a smile' to get you started

intro
| I iv | IV V |
verse
|vi iv | IV |
|vi iv | IV |
|vi ii | IV |

there is some implied harmony ie the full chords aren't played but the sum of all parts imply a chord.
i dont have an instrument to check the key (or whether its even right  ) but I'll say it's C for simplicity's sake:

|C Em | F G|

|Am Em/G | F |
|Am Em | F |
|Am Dm | F |

cool cheers man, im not fully tone deaf, music teacher told me that i cant tell if its a semi tone or full tone change, i can hear the change just not regonise how much the change is, with practise i could, or if the notes are played together. like i say its an excuse just need to practice it haha, since ive playing in a band full time i can pick up things a bit easier, but ill tell u this, i was playing a B the other day, it was spose to be a E, and i could only tell it was wrong after doing it 2-3 times in a row haha.
