Bob Dylan - Shot of Love

Post by foal30 »

this is from the album Shot of Love 1981 CBS
whilst much maligned I far prefer this period of Dylan's work to any other
I like the Evangelicalism.

rhythm section is Jim Keltner (Drums) and Tim Drummond (Bass)
Keltner probably played on 80000 records and Drummond was in James Brown band for a while.

key = Bb minor
so that is 5 flats, here is the scale; Bb C Db Eb F Gb Ab

I picked this tune out because it has a Bar of
2
4
in the start of each chorus.

both beats have a chord , Eb and Db

so to clarify. 2/4/4/2/4/4 equals the time of the chorus.

I play F and Ab to lead back into the Bb minor verse.

there are other rock songs that use a bar of
2
4
to add emphasis (or drum goodness).
I used to find this quite tricky but once I learn to read it on paper then I found I could feel it in the band.
