TAB: Netherworld Dancing Toys - For Today - guitar and bass

Post by Some Bozo »

Couldn't believe there's no decent tab for this out there so I had a go. There's a few bits of the bass where I'm not sure it's in the right octave. Also not certain of the little funk guitar doodle at the end of the intro.

Edit.. hmmm the code formatting has mucked up the spacing of the chords over the bars. Open the attachment in Notepad to see it properly. Had to zip it because .txt is not allowed as an attachment. Dangerous, those txt files...

Code: Select all

    INTRO / VERSE

    Clean with some chorus

      C F/C* G/B F/C
      Let ring
    E-8---------|----------|-------------|-----------|
    B---8-------|-10-------|-------12----|--10-------|
    G-----9-----|---10-----|-------12----|----10-----|
    D-----------|-----10---|----12-------|------10---|
    A-----------|----------|-14----------|-----------|
    E-----------|----------|-------------|-----------|

      C F/C* G/B F/C
      Let ring
    E-8---------|----------|-------------|--------------|
    B---8-------|-10-------|-------12----|--9h10-10-10--|
    G-----9-----|---10-----|-------12----|--9h10-10-10--|
    D-----------|-----10---|----12-------|--------------|
    A-----------|----------|-14----------|--------------|
    E-----------|----------|-------------|--------------|

*The chords have slash names ( compound chords) because the bass guitar plays different notes under them instead of the usual root notes.
If you want to get the flavour of this with some strum-along chords, try these

      C F/C G/B
    E-0---1---3------
    B-1---1---0------
    G-0---2---0------
    D-2---3---2------
    A-3---3----------
    E----------------

    Intro and verse bass:
    C F/C G/B F/C
    G-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
    D-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
    A-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|-2--2-2--------2--2-2--------|-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|
    E--------3--5-3--------3--5-3-|--------3--5-3--------3--5-3-|--------3--5-3--------3--5-3-|--------3--5-3--------3-5-3--|

Verse guitar - same chords as intro but strummed once.
      C F/C* G/B F/C
    E-8-------------------------------------------
    B-8---------10----------12------10------------
    G-9---------10----------12------10------------
    D-----------10----------12------10------------
    A----------------------(14)-------------------
    E---------------------------------------------

    C F/C
If you told me this time last year
    G/B
that I would feel like I do now
    F/C
well I wouldn't have believed you

    C F/C
It's not just a question of my being alone
    G/B
the truth is I like my own company best
    F/C
if the truth is to be known

    C F/C
I didn't realise baby how much I cared
    G/B
and all I wanna do is to be with you
    F/C
and everything else seems unimportant compared

CHORUS: Can't really hear the guitar clearly, so use your favourite shapes for C F G

    C F
For today I remember your smile
       G F
For today I remember your smile

    Chorus bass
    C F G F
    G-------------------------|------------------------|--------------------------|----------------------------|
    D----------------------5\-|3---3-3--3--3-3--3-3--2-|5--5-5--5-5--5-5-5--0-2-3-|3---3-3--3--3-3--3-3-3-2----|
    A-3---3-3--3--3-3--3-3----|------------------------|--------------------------|-------------------------4--|
    E-------------------------|------------------------|--------------------------|----------------------------|

INSTRUMENTAL PART - same as intro

    VERSE:
it's been a hot summer now
and things are where they should be
but there's a hole in my wellbeing
it's so big now... drive at truck right through
I think you should know that you are the one
who could probably fill it for good. ...

    VOCAL SOLO:
Annie Crummer goes nuts over the verse chords five times.
No guitar on this part. The bass plays the same as the main verse riff with a couple of notes left out
    C F/C G/B F/C
    G-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
    D-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
    A-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|-2--2-2--------2--2-2--------|-3--3-3--------3--3-3--------|
    E--------3--5-3--------3------|--------3--5-3--------3------|--------3--5-3--------3------|--------3--5-3--------3------|

When the backing vocals come in, they switch to the chorus chords, but the bass keeps up the style of the previous part:
    C F G F
    G--------------------------|--------------------------|---------------------------|--------------------------|
    D--------------------------|3--3-3--------3--3-3------|5--5-5----------5-5--5-----|3--3-3--------3--3-3-2----|
    A-3--3-3--------3--3-3-----|-------3--5-3---------5---|--------5--7-5---------5---|-------3--5-3----------4--|
    E-------3--5-3---------5---|--------------------------|---------------------------|--------------------------|

Do that twice then repeat normal choruses till the end.

The bass on the final "For today" right at the end is something like:
    F C
    G----5---------
    D-3-----5------
    A----------0-3-
    E--------------

Welcome to the Forum, Anne.Curtiz!
No need to be apologetic :D. How about starting a thread telling us what bits you don't understand. Lets see if we can help.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
