I've been hunting this thing down for years!! I've rung or otherwise contacted anyone and everyone who might know - Gray Bartlett, Peter Posa, Hamilton County BB, Colin Lehmann, TVNZ - with less than nil results so I still don't know who wrote/performed it! I do, however, have a vinyl record with it included as "Hillbilly Child (Theme from Country Calendar).... (Loxene Golden disc awards from mammary!)
I started tabbing it out when I was a lot younger, and a whole lot more stupid, and have it halfway worked out in standard concert pitch; I'll find the piece of paper - yes, kiddies, we used to do this shit with a record player, a pencil and piece of paper!! - and whack what I've got in here someplace...??
For those who think CC is boring, I suggest you have a look at channel 99 on Sky digital...

I used to play with a guy in New Plymouth who has been a guitar teacher there forever. He played the theme - unfortunately, it bore little resemblance to the original, whcih seems to be a common thread with this tune.

...nice! Thanks, philbit; I guess that's me sorted as that's pretty much the same as I have apart from the Adim - I had an E there! That's not, however the whole tune - it goes other places within the same structure that are very cool for a bluegrass/country player! As a matter of interest, here's what I've got so far, tidied up considerably!!

I still don't know who performed for the theme though....

Thanks Corsair,

Not wanting to discourage but both tabs have inaccuracies. For instance if it's a diminished chord it's A# not A (typo probably) and just from my ear's memory I'm unsure as to if the opening G chord includes the 3rd (B).
Is there any possibility of getting an mp3 from you? Please PM me if possible as I'd like to have a go at a full transcription, including notating rhythm etc, but I can't be bothered working off a cassette recording from our tinny TV.

I was told a few years ago that the performer was a guitarist I'd once met in Raglan in 1990s (sorry, his name escapes me at the moment) but I remain sceptical as to this information. That guitarist cut an album with Peter Skandera about 1993 if that helps anyone make an ID.
