Listen to this - warning shreddy content!

Post by Bg »

I'm a mod on another website that has regular jams etc... anyway heres a bit of a challenge for you ;)

Heres one I took part in earlier, the challenge is to guess which part mine is out of the 4 sections and tell me what modes I'm using  I broke out of the pentatonic box but I don't know what with haha... its not 12 bar blues ;)

Give it a listen though as it stars 3 brilliant technical guitarists, and me ;)

You're the last player and you used your JS. Am I right?

Btw, what forum is it? I want that backing track!

First player is all gimmicks and not so much actual skill. Playing in time might have been nice, as would bending to the note you're aiming for rather than half a semitone out. I can imagine playing with him would be a very painful experience. Awful, player one.

Second player is kind of vanilla and then pulls out a giant wank towards the end which adds nothing. Try harder, player two.

3rd player tears it apart, nice balance of chops (from hell) and quite a bit of class.

4th player feels old school and like someone with less to prove than those young whippersnappers doing sweep picking on their pointy guitars. I would bet that that's BG, without having met him or heard him play before. Some real nice wails in there.

You dropped a (dorian) major 6th in there early on, and you're using the 2nd a bit, but other than that, it sounds like some sweet, sweet pentatonic the whole time to me.

I enjoyed every second of that. 8)

BG = 4 also, for the accuracy of the bends.

Nothing to do with me  , but i'll happily take a spot if you post the file BG :).

I'd pick No 4 for BG, with No1 as a backup option.

yeah... ok. It was number 4 and it does stick out like dogs balls to my ears ;)

I'll grab the backer so we can wail over it ;)

I don't do fast so well nowadays so I relied on reamping everything to give it a bit of an edge, so the guitar was recorded clean and then split to two channels panned hard left and right. Hard left was the Pod X3 and hard right was Guitar Rig 3, bog standard satch patch. The right track was delayed very slightly and cos the recorded tracks are clean I can basically feck around to my hearts content with them. Both tracks were harmonized in that section though they turned out differently....

The number 3 player is only about 17 years old :( the other two are old fogey's like me :D

And the guitar was the frankentele from hell - M. pointu :D
