Re: My Line 6 Spider III
honestly, i've never heard a single good thing from ANY line 6 spider.......please,for the sake of the hearing of any future audience you may perform in front of,leave your amp at home and borrow something else to gig with.

Re: My Line 6 Spider III
Evanescence is OK; the sound quality is decent.
Slipknot... only song I've heard that I've immediately liked is Psychosocial, even then mostly because of the axework. Again, the soundquality is pretty good. I don't know why they need so many people, though -- it sounds like 2 guitars, a bass, drummer, and a singer to me, five people at most, four if one axeman is the singer (as per Slayer.)
If those two groups use L6Spiders, then the gear must be tweakable or moddable to pretty good levels. That said, they don't carry the same physical prescence as a full JCM800 stack, f'r example.

Re: My Line 6 Spider III
The use Rivera amps, the ones that Mick helped design, they used to use Mesa Boogie DC-10's before...

Re: My Line 6 Spider III
I read something about them (Slipknot) using Line6 gear on their last album- not sure to what extent. Meshuggah get pretty amazing metal tone from their Vettas.
Did any of you gear snobs actually listen to the tracks? If that's the Spider in the left channel on 'You're Going to Hell', it sounds pretty good.

Looks like a Line 6 amp to me, I must say - but to be fair - I have no smegging idea what they use - this is just from the Line 6 website.

Re: My Line 6 Spider III
The guitars on those tracks sound pretty good to me. Not my taste in music at all, but still good sounds. I know a lot of metal bands use solid state amps for various reasons, and I would have thought that Line 6 would be among the best solid state manufacturers. I was really impressed with the sounds available in the Pod XT Live when I had to use one for a while. I still much prefer a tube amp and my pedal board, but Line 6 have some very convincing souning stuff.

Re: My Line 6 Spider III
This is the latest info I can find, it looks like they use some pedals, have not seen any reference to them using their amps live.
