Ah bugger, I didn't even know it was on. I would have poked my head in but you probably played at some ungodly, un parent friendly hour.

Okay, I dig the riffing, the drumming and the bass playing looks okay because I can't hear it in there. The soloing is freaking awesome too.

I think the only thing you need to work on is the vocals. In the first track, it's really all over the show. The second track is much better - but there are some parts where you move away from the metallica drone and you get a bit lost, tunewise.

I think it might be worth getting a vocal coach who specialises in metal or hard rock vocals (I don't know one) to sit down with you and listen to the track and give you some pointers to look for and work on ... because I think once you have the vocals dialled you will be teh fkin brutalz (good).

The other thing is maybe getting some form of BV's in there as well. Even if it's just 'fuck yeah' or somethign at the right place can make all the difference and improve your stage performance. It doesn't have to be Trivium note perfect melodic harmonies - but it does make a difference and sets you apart from other bands.

I really enjoyed the video ... hope you don't mind the observation/criticism.
Yup - that's me and my pal Steve or little stevie vai as I like to call him. In Auckland airport when I was 26. I'm not 26 anymore.

Pretty much agree with everything Dave said. Great stuff!

One thing though.. isn't it a bit of a worry when your bass player is headbanging out of time? :D

Cheers alot for the constructive criticism :D

This is our first time recording a gig the way we did and so we can try improve the mixing for next time for example, making the bass audible

For vocals, I do agree with you I'm not 100% yet but I'm definately improving which is good. I think once my voice matures a little more it would make a lot of a difference too, that's only to the tone however. We're gonna get backing vocals down right away because it really does make a difference.

Cheers for the review and tips :) I agree 100%

I think its awesome that you're not even legal to drink in the bar but you're playing there, very cool \m/

Haha wait till you play at the Dux or Bedford they are even better.

Haylar is actually playing at Zebedees for the first time in a few weeks (22nd May). Should be interesting!

Yeah, but Zebz has it's place in the scene. It's nothing like Al's Bar, and isn't even trying to compete to be on the same level as them. It's great for bands (who are below where you are at) to get a start.

Just my $0.02cents worth.

Heh, yep sorry. I totally pigeonholed Zebz in my post as a beginner band only venue. Not quite what I meant.
