I listened to flameyjam instead, fuck that was funny! I loved the "get yourself a pirate suit, ahoy matey!"....

Did you know tomorrow (today your time) is international "talk like a pirate" day? Yarrr

(Where I live in the UK everyone speaks like a bloody pirate, got a hell of a fright when we realised where we'd moved had that accent)

At the end of the day my recordings are good. Every media has its pitfalls, but this works really well for me, and lots of other people too.

Yes you could get into stressing over 3ms of latency.
You could also get worried about.....
That +3db of noise at 20,000khz...
Or the fact that the speed of light is slowing down...
Or that the universe is doing the impossible, and speeding up... 8)
Or that our planets magnetic feild is decreasing and this will cause all men to become sterile; destroying the human race...

Or you could make music :D
  nice...

Or you could get a Mac, apparently that will fix most of those issues  :P

Lol, thanks. I'm glad it is still bringing pleasure to unsuspecting ears :P. It was me and my friends first 'significant' recording endeavor. We made a few lesser ones later, that were no where near as good, but sadly with music that is sometimes the way :P

My current setup is digital mostly, athough I have had a number of 4 track cassette and reel recorders over the years. Current recording tools are:

PC - Pent 4 1Gb RAM
Mackie Tracktion 2 software with Plugins for Africa
Presonus Firebox (firewire interface)
Behringer UB1622FX-Pro mixer
SM-58 & Audio Technica ATM-63A mics
Yamaha DG-Stomp
Various outboard effects & drum machines
Otari M-5050 MkII (reel to reel 2 track) for when I have tape fever or I want to experiment with loops
Gibson LP (86), Burns Marquee, Yamaha tele, Martin D-28, Ibanez ATK-300 bass
Korg MS2000 keyboard, Yamaha TG-500
Traynor Blue
Vox Cambridge 30

and too many pedals

I am happy with my setup, but would like a tube based preamp for recording, e.g. H&K Tubeman or sim. However the DG-Stomp can give me some very nice results for clean, but OD sounds are not that great. A miced amp is the way to go, but hard to do at 12 at night...and I dislike the call from the neighour....god knows she already hates me.
