I just got a Shure SM57, which seems to record my 7 string pretty well.
Anything for less that $200? :D Student here!
Behringer DI's come in at about $100 odd, just dont get the dinky little 2 channel one for $70 something dollars, its not as good.

The SM 57 is a good mic, its got quite a strong midrange voice and picks up a lot of detail as well. Its a good investment as a live mic too because it rejects a lot of off axis noise (it wont pickup other things on stage very much).
The closer to the middle of the cone you place the mic the more treble you will pickup, the further away the less you will get.
I personaly like to place my 57 mid way between the centre of the cone and the outer edge of the speaker on an angle pointing in towards the cone, at about 25-40mm from the grill.
But when you get this, experiment with mic placement to get the sound you want.
