Summer Song cover (video)

Post by Gelato »

Towards the end of last year, I played a few songs at my works xmas party. 3.5 of those songs got recorded (before the batteries ran out on the camera ).

Here's one of the songs I did: http://www.owen.net.nz/nzg/summersong-gelato.avi (~16mb DivX. I tried reducing it as much as possible for download). This is a Joe Satriani song that I am destroying ;)

Things to note:
- I'm not a "showman" by any means :P
- Playing an entire song with your mouth open is wrong (even if I did have Bronchitis that night and couldn't breathe properly)
- Don't adjust the volume of your backing track while you are meant to be playing
- It's human to make mistakes, and I made a lot of human that night... :?
- No, I'm not wearing a Mysterons t-shirt ;)

I symapathise with the open mouth thing. I'm fine and have complete control over my mouth when I play... until I start using a wah pedal- it's then that I start to resemble a goldfish.

Nasty if you can't close your mouth while looking down at your gat. You get those big stringy goobs hanging off the strings

Gelato I had a proper listen with cans on and it sounds great. Some nice artificial harmonics coming through among other nice techniques. Great crowd response at the end too. Good on ya.

Pretty cool stuff. I guess this gig was after your dose of inspiration at G3?

At first it wouldn't play audio. Could see ya but couldn't hear ya. So I downloaded it and it played fine.

Very cool. Nice song and nice playing. Very nice indeed.

I wouldn't worry too much about the open mouth or anything, the viewers attention is drawn to your Mysterons T-shirt. ;) 8)

Thanks for the kind words everyone :)

It was a bit scary watching Satch play this song at G3 a week before I was going to be performing it. He'd play something and I'd think "crap, that's not how I learnt it  ". Was certainly very inspiring though ;)

:? I used DivX to encode it, which worked on a couple of PC's and Macs that I tried it on. Don't worry, you aren't missing much without the visuals ;)
