Excerpt of Tera

Post by Tsuken »

The following is the guitar solo (which makes up basically the second half of the song :P ) from a song of mine called Lipstick On My Breath. It's the first song I ever wrote, and this particular solo is one I've played unchanged since about 1991 or '92. I started to re-record it a while back, and a couple of nights ago I redid a bunch of the lead work using Tera.

And here it is: http://www.owen.net.nz/raf/Lipstick%20solo.mp3

The lead is triple-tracked (left, centre and right) with 80s processed cheese tones on all ;) The bit after the solo is a new addition. I think I like it...

Hope you guys like...

Cool. I like the ending but it seems to belong a different song ?

Edit: After more listens, I think what throws me is the abrupt tempo change. I can imagine doing the last bar of the solo as a rapid "slowing down" ending, to make a smooth transition ?

Cheers for the nice comments guys. I'm very happy with Tera 8)

bozo, it is a very abrupt transition, and I guess somewhat jarring. After reading your comment I toyed with the idea of bringing the piano in earlier: playing an ascending line starting up to tempo then slowing to transition to the slow bit (I don't really want to change the solo). I think I've decide to leave it pretty much as is, though I might move the pino bit around by small increments and see if putting it a touch earlier or later smooths things just a tad.
