wanted Cubase experts - post production on live set.

Post by Double Forte »

Hello resident cubase experts.

We ran our live set into Cubase at our last gig and I don't know where to start cutting it up/editing/balancing etc.

Sounds pretty good dry with just the levels and input gain adjusted etc etc.

So, if there is an expert that can shed some light on what steps to take to 'polish' said live turd and cut it into some decent quality tracks it would be very much appreciated.

If someone want to get the masters and have a play (for a box of beers if you make if sound good) thats good as well.

I would like to learn something tho if possible.

Cubase SX 3 used; live out of a Phonic Firewire board about 3 hours of material. (give or take with our vocalists crowd banter etc.)

Here are the channels recorded. Set's are cut; but most songs aren't. Levels are good on the most part no clipping etc. Not too many bum notes either.

Drums
Kick - mic dropped on cushion in drum.
Snare - close mic'd
Overhead 1 left of kit
Oerhead 2 right of kit
Bass - DI'd
Vox 1 - and harp - SM58 Beta
Vox 2 - not much on this line. SM58
Harp line in from processor - seriously quiet.
Guitar one - Strat into deville into SM57 on boom
Guitar two - Strat into JCM800 into SMXX dropped and taped.
mix left
mix right

Any help mucho's appreciated.
