Dench does come into play in this story
Prey tell?
Entered a long and frustrating exchange where he promised me PARTS for this rare BASS. But after a string OF about ten emails he drifted off into OBSCURITY and nothing CAME of it
He is truly a tosser.

I have a spare set of tuners if you’d like them (new not Jansen )
I'd go for a Jansen tuning key for OG sake :) This gal came with three Jansens and one Fender. I have a full set of Fender bass keys in the drawer somewhere...would swap for Jansens

Yeh I’m not going for original
I’m going to do p bass pickups rather than mud bucker so I’m going to have to cover the route up

Same. However it will definitely need quarantining before my wife allows it in the house ;-)

The OG pickup is weird...it's a 4-pole piece plate deal (the big-ass chrome and screw thing you see on the top) suspended between two individual 6-string, single coils underneath. I figure it's Jansen cheaping out on parts (like Leo) and using SCs from the Tele copies and adapting them to make the Beat Bass 4-stringer :eh: ....maybe? Actually sounds ok...if you're not too hung up on expecting trad Fender tones.

Some decisions to be made ...

Positioing P bass pickups. From what I can tell these tend to be mid point between the saddle and the neck end. If I do a through guard mount i think they will be too high for my tastes. Also if I use the OG tele style bridge there wont be much room between the guard and the bridge end. I did think about cutting the bridge down to a mor estandard size...but this takes away one of the unique elements of the bass.

So I think im left with a pickup route the is half over hanging the guard. Ive seen examples of this.
