Any thoughts re: ampeg pf20t?
Looks like a potentially locely home and recording amp
Looks lovely. I had an Ampeg B-15T a few years ago. Solid state but a useful fliptop amp. Now you've got me gassing for a pf20t also :-)

I’ve got the big brother CTM-300 , apparently the CTM-30 is very cool

I'd quite like the CTM-300 to be honest. I miss tubes.

Plus I'm having some issues with the Markbass...I posted this over at Talkbass, but maybe one of the bass heads here can help:

My Markbass Little Mark Vintage (Gold Line) has a weird intermittent fault where it powers up, then immediately seems to power off (all the lights turn off, including the tube). Then, the nanosecond I flick the power switch to turn it off, the lights come back on - and then go off again.

It doesn't do it every time, but it does it most of the time. After a few power cycles it seems to sort itself out. Sometimes it seems like removing the cable from the input helps, but I might be imagining that.

Once it's going, I've never had a problem with the amp. But it also means I have a hard time trusting it at gigs...

I'm sure the advice will be to try a tech, but is there anything I can investigate beforehand? Or a systematic way to rule out problems?

And has anyone experienced something similar?

I just know an 'intermittent issue' is a recipe for an expensive bill...

E - 90 cm
A - 94.5 cm

Measured on my Jan 64 500/1 which has the long tailpiece. The short tailpiece was introduced mid 64 and used to accommodate longer strings I think.

Pics below to show the difference.

Omg... :mental:
So...I grew up a raving Macca / beatles fan. All through high school pretty much devoted to learning every bass line. Self taught along with piano and guitar. My dad bought me that big white beatles music book. Also he bought me my first CD player and I used to spend my hours in the sleep out with that book and various beatles CDs playing along. At the time I had a samick bass, but when I got a supermarket job (and also one making boxes) I eventually afforded one of those epiphone violin basses. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I remember seeing an actual hofner on the wall in cadenza guitars in takapuna. Man oh man I used to just go into the store to look at the old wood grain on it and the weird flat wound strings.
Once I saw a hofner for sale one for sale in the local trade and exchange for $500 and I begged my folks to call them up but once we did it had gone.

Then university/jobs/life/changes of musical taste ensued and I all but forgot about my frothing adoration of that bass. It wasnt really until I got back into guitar stuff and started ordering things from Japan and noticed that bass in the back ground (story allready told) that It resparked things.

As soon as I get the strings back on this bad boy my first port of call wil be to put on a bit of 'Dear Prudence' and play along. Always loved that.

I was in the garage yesterday cleaning the hofner up a bit. truss rod nut got some penetrating lubricant and a turn. Neck straightens nicely. Board cleaned and oiled and frets a fine sand and polish.

For what ever reason it seems more prevalent with 66 Hofners. Strange.
The Senator is sitting in a friend's studio at the moment. He loves it more that the Beatle basses :-)
