Can you nominate yourself?
Yes?
In which case... ME!
Wrong notes, no groove. Mediocre to say the least.
Hey! What the smeg? How come when I type the word G R O O V E it ends up displaying a "Grove"?

Re: Who's that playing Bass?
LOL!
Funny you should mention that BB. In our cleanup, I found a tape (yes, a cassette tape - remember them?) of my band from 1971. Not only did I not remember half the songs at all, I certainly did not recognise the bass work, even though it was mine own...

He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Re: Who's that playing Bass?
man old band practice tapes are priceless for getting your shit together
I love how they age
"I sound fantastic"
6 months later you know it's
"WTF was I thinking there!"
or that incredible feel was a turgid dirge that should be buried. It's the 2nd time test.

as for the grove thing, its a word filter, designed to annoy and infuriate people, same thing happens when you say quim.

Just as an aside...
Is it a good thing for a musician to be recognisable though?
Surely you should be able to play without sounding just like yourself every time?

None of the aforementioned stars got where they are today by sounding like someone else.

Re: Who's that playing Bass?
I don't mean that people should sound like anybody else. But now that I think about it, I wonder about the line between "always sounding like yourself" and being "a hack who can't move on". Surely one should be able to speak in several "voices", much like an actor should be able to handle all sorts of characters?ash wrote:Why?Vince wrote:

Just wondering...

Re: Who's that playing Bass?
it's more important to try and communicate in Vinceish
than worry about others casting aspirations about moving on
most people spend a lifetime sounding like other people
I don't need to be liked
but I want people to hear and say that is recognizably foalish
most communicators can speak several languages, it's often more about the listeners reception.

Re: Who's that playing Bass?
Even if it has nothing to do with the conversation? It's like some actor is really good at playing funny drunks so no matter what film he's in, the script is rewritten to accommodate the fact that he's good at playing funny drunks.foal30 wrote: I don't need to be liked

I'm just asking, I really don't have an opinion either way.
