After completely poo-poo'ing this idea, I scraped the bottom of the pick barrel and found a nylon .88, have to say way better than the big stubbies :D I can't imagine it lasting longer than an hour or two but definitely like that feel. Got a 1.5mm tortex there that I'm trying with it :)
I found a 1mm Black Nylon plectrum

It's certainly a stronger attack point but not convinced on string to string balance. TBH I would need to practise specific to using a heavier pick

If I've had a long day oncourt I can find it to tiring to use a pick at all.

"Correct" technique would probably be to not grip the plectrum to hard and focus on wrist angle

Down or up strokes clearly voice variances

Precision - Flats - Plectrum - FTT O/D - Ashdown 300 Valve is nice.

I love to finger... but sometimes I just need to get that extra attack and that’s when I use Dunlop 1mm (the black ones). Only trouble is if you drop them on stage they’re damn near invisible.

Vaguely attempting a tidy up and stocktake
Here’s the plectrum types I use
The “Big Stubby” is to much for me

Spent a few hrs on the bass this week, for the first time in many years. Fingers are pretty sore, but can’t bring myself to use a pick yet. Reckon the heavier ones I use on guitar will be fine though. Think they’re a .99 planet waves pick - the blue one

You could look up Carol Kaye picking method - it gets a smoother, old school tone with no stress in the wrist. For bass players that are getting carpal tunnel it’s a godsend

A spectrum of plectrums.
I do like the big stubby for some songs. The rest where I need a plectrum is the nylon 0.88mm. Else fingers.
