New old BASS!!

Post by GrantB »

Well, every bassist knows and dreads it, that every guitar player thinks they can play bass...."it's just lead guitar man...one big solo...woo hoo" etc etc

So I was way out Nth West Akl the other day and dropped into Dollar Dealers and grabbed me a 1979 Ibanez RS800BS bass guitar with the most amazing neck. Guitar and original Ibanez case (what's left of it) set me back a very reasonable $189.

Heavy as feck, low low action, mahogany body with a flame cap....sounds are thunderous yet warm through my Ashdown Blue Evo. A tweek on the amp and I can get good Jazz Bass funk sounds. Needs the brass nut replacing though...so 80's...

It's the sunburst one...

$189 is a great price for any bass, even an Ibanez.

Have fun - bass is where the REAL music lives. Guitars are just added fluffery.

You could paddle a boat with that headstock....actually, I always hated with a passion the Roadster guitars, but the basses I always liked. Actually I always liked all Ibanez basses....they should have stuck to what they did well....now all they make is rediculous pointy things with handles in the body and fluoro paint jobs ...*cowers in corner awaiting verbal assault*....
