yep, just use the preamp and yeah the ampeg is the shitz and stuff ;) I used to use that over the X3 bass models, everytime....
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Pre amp sounds sweet.

Ampeg sounds a little better but a lot more tweakable.

I have it goinf through on preamp mode into Ampeg and its sounding passable I think..

It's a $50 Samick, Miracles are not expected :)

One of the deceptive charms of the PODs, can make shit gats sound almost okay, lol.

Have been fiddling about with the bass, but while getting some okay POD tones I've had trouble dialing up anything that really takes my fancy (especially with regards to something fuzzy).
More me being the weakest link than the POD letting me down. Finding wrangling the bass a bit tricky for my ears.

Yeah if you don't spend time tweaking, it can make all gats sound identical too.... plug in a strat - nice tone, plug in a LP, hey identical tone! plug in a turd - wow just the same! The trick is tweaking so the tone is transparent. Takes a lot of effort to dial that gain back ;)

True.
Been mucking around with this thing for a couple of years, but constantly discovering new 'toys' and tricks. And yeah, been getting some mean as results, but takes a lot of time/patience to get it "just right".

Finally got around to updating the firmware when we updated our comp a wee while ago. The improvements over the original firmware are brilliant! Had some nasty niggles that were really annoying and holding back potential, but they seemed to have really ironed out a lot of the issues nicely.

Honestly, while I was gagging at the bit to have a good muck around with the new stuff, I've hardly even touched them yet. Still finding new and ingenius ways to play with the old toys, lol.

Was in the RS Hammy the other day and the missus started getting loud when she found out how ridiculously expensive the proper POD bags are - gawd what an embarassment, lol. (made my own soon after getting it)

Thought I saw some new stuff! I think.. either that or pod farm is different.

Getting some good sounds out of it now. Tweaking the preamp model on the POD and added the master comp tweaked until it was a good baseline for the Ampeg plug then tweaked that... I think it sounds good. Havn't actually owned a bass for 15 years or so ... I could be way off... :) May try to hit some tone clips, havnt had much luck with that stuff as of late.

$50... this shit will do me fine. just set it up. plays like margarine 8)

Bye bye Ampeg VXT or what ever. Evaluated and rejected.

My crappy bass may have something to do with it. Sounded passable but still mud. Not much difference to what I can dial in on the pod and combine with a bit of creative EQ/Comp
