If it happened twenty years ago, I'd be impressed with Gibson's musical taste.

Occuring on a twentieth anniversary, highly publicized, I'm highly impressed with Gibson's ability to cash in.

I think it looks cool. And I like the pickguard...the way it goes around the pickups. I can't comment on it's appropriate-ness.

reminds me off a rounded off Washburn A20, with dumbo ears....(could they make those tuners any bigger? :o )
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Ok, so you've decided to have a fluid shape for the body, cool. So why the smeg have a traditional headstock. Aesthetically, it doesn't work for me. The tone doesn't enter the equation. Its a Gibby bass. It'll be mud.

Hm, whilst it's quite ugly, did he not play Gibson basses, including RD's during his time with that band? It's not a new design anyway. I have no problem with them releasing it now, makes good business sense to me, and it's no Failbird.
