I call mine 'the old fella' but I guess if she wants to call yours 'bass' that's ok
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Happy: I'm happy 'cause my girl wants to play the bass and jam with me
Sad: I have to jam with her
Let me add some more context...
• We'll probably just play with church mates and family members (no PRO gigs)
• Will be use for home recording (if she gets bored I can still use the bass)
• She's not into rock nor heavy metal music
• She's a member of our church choir (soprano) and knows how to read music
• She likes Hip Hop and R&B
I play guitar and know very little about bass stuff.
For the bass guitar itself, we are currently looking at Squire J Bass and Ibanez SRs
For the bass amp, we're looking at the Fender Rumble 100 and Ashdown EB112
Or should we be looking at getting 2nd hand / Used stuff since she's a beginner?

Cheers
Can't be arsed to read the other replies. My take on it is that your time playing guitar or jamming with mates is your time. Buy her some scuba diving gear or sign her up for night classes in something. By all means encourage new interests. Just not your interest.
My first wife was a professional musician. We had a house full of keyboards and associated stuff but we never 'jammed' together. She didn't do jamming anyway. It seemed to have to be written down before she could play it. Amazing to watch. Dots go in the eyes, music comes out the hands. Like she'd played it forever. Anyway, I think she thought my playing was like a curious ape banging away with a stick. Sorry. Tangent there....

I know without following the link that that's Jeff Beck's bass player.
But be honest, as great a musician as she no doubt is, at some point you think: "I bet he has..."

I'd be grateful for any interest the missus showed in me these days
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

She's actually my fiancee, not just a gf. She calls me whatever she wants. i dont really mind.willow13 wrote:this...i'm concerned that your GF calls you babeslash-ed wrote:This thread has an exceedingly odd title. That's all.
We'll soon be Mr and Mrs, so there you go...happy wife = happy life, right?
Anyways, we went to a couple of some music stores and I showed her the beauty and glory of music gears and I tried to infect her with GAS (just kidding).
She tried to wear one of the Fender Squier J Bass, after which she looked at me and said, "my handbag is heavier than this". She tried to walk around with the bass strapped on her, no issues.
This is the exact bass she is looking at http://tinyurl.com/l9wkxp7
As for the Amp, she likes the looks of the Ashdown better than Fenders....
I asked her to carry one of the high wattage amps then I asked her how was it, she said "this is heavy". I was like, "glad to hear that!" cause if her handbag is still heavier than the amp then I would be very suspicious as to what she carries in her bag.
So yeah, looks like we're heading towards Fender and Ashdowns unless she changes her mind (i did told her to go online and research about other brands and models as well)
nothing to see here
