I know the answer but...

Post by Bg »

Really getting stuck back into bass at the moment. I'm playing a cheapo Aria that I got for 70 bucks, which plays well, sounds ok but the tuners could do with an upgrade and maybe the bridge. Possibly the pickups if I wanted to go a bit mental.

So do I go full on upgrade and keep forever knowing that the most I can get back is probably 200 bucks. Or do I just watch out for something already better. It plays nicely and I love the feel. If I keep I would probably do a fret job, only because I can.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Get a proper P bass. Slab of alder, 4 strings, maple or rosewood neck. Keep that shit proper and correct!

I know, my fav bass ever was a mex in black with a maple neck. Would like a 5 string.
Though I had an exceptional Aria 2 thru body, back in the late 80's I'd kill for....

Proper one! If you're considering moving on from the Aria already, you probably always will be.

The only bass is a P bass. This is why I envy bass players with their 'I only got one instrument' and ' Would you look at that. Been in the case for 6 weeks and still in tune'. Cunts.

Are you saying that because you're trying not to buy that one that was on FB the other day?
Larrivee 00 Acoustic. FAV Strat for electric. Ibanez SDGR5 for bass. Push for Ableton. When not doing that, 3D CAD for tunnels...

nah didn't see it.

I'm just thinking I need to have better tuners and I think if I upgrade its not worth the cost...
I don't have the cash for a good bass yet as off to see the folks after xmas. But is it worth me upgrading the tuners now - I should just put up with them till later... but gas and tuning is getting to me!

Mod the fuck out of it if you are going to keep it.
If it feels good, you can make it sound good.
Buying to own and buying to rent are different.
